The STEM Sisters Mentoring Program 2024 successfully aimed to support and empower women of color (WOC) in STEM through a dedicated 12-week initiative. Mentee training sessions were held on July 22, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with 64 mentees participating, while mentor training took place on July 24, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with 64 mentors involved. Both sessions were conducted online and included participants from Sydney and Melbourne. The program emphasized mentoring, professional development, and networking.
The 2024 STEM Sisters Mentoring Program empowered 40 WOC in STEM fields by providing structured one-to-one mentoring, networking opportunities, and professional development workshops. This initiative specifically targeted culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women at various stages of their STEM careers, including final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, recent graduates, early-career professionals, and those returning to the STEM workforce. The program’s comprehensive approach addressed the unique challenges faced by WOC in STEM, aiming to increase their representation, success, and advancement in these fields.
As of now, the STEM Sisters Mentoring Program 2024 is actively in progress. Ongoing efforts are being closely monitored to ensure that the program meets its objectives and delivers meaningful outcomes. Regular assessments and feedback mechanisms are in place to track progress and make necessary adjustments to enhance the effectiveness of the mentoring experience. A final evaluation of the program will be conducted upon its completion, providing a thorough analysis of its success in advancing the careers of its participants and achieving its intended goals.
