On September 26, 2024, we were excited to host the “Allyship in Action: Panel Discussion & Networking Event,” organized by STEM Sisters to empower and support women of color in STEM fields across Australia. This event provided a vital platform for individuals passionate about championing underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to engage in meaningful dialogue and action.
Held from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Victoria, located at 555 Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000, attendees enjoyed an evening filled with insightful discussions and community-building activities. The centerpiece of the event was a captivating panel discussion featuring esteemed voices from various sectors, including industry leaders, researchers, educators, and advocates.
Throughout the discussion, our distinguished panelists explored essential topics such as fostering inclusivity, dismantling systemic barriers, and amplifying underrepresented voices within STEM. A Q&A session followed, allowing attendees to interact directly with the panelists and seek guidance on their specific challenges.
After the panel, the networking session offered valuable opportunities for participants to connect, exchange ideas, and build professional relationships. This event marked an important step toward creating a supportive community for women of color in STEM. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated and look forward to future opportunities to connect and grow together!
