Alyssa
Goodman

My name is Alyssa Goodman and I have always been interested in languages and IoT. I did my undergraduate studies in Bachelor of International Studies at RMIT University, where I interned with a women’s organisation. I have a wide range of interests learning languages mainly Chinese and Japanese, working with data, in R mainly, and an advocate of employability skills and feminism. I start my Masters of Data Science in March of 2021 and am looking forward to becoming more involved in the STEM world.  

I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to the work STEM Sisters is doing in the community, particularly for women of colour in STEM fields.

Hello everyone!

My name is Nandita Hebbar and I am working as a project coordinator for Hampstead Medical. I am a recent project management graduate and I enjoy using my skills to contribute to the exciting technological advances and managerial changes that happen every day at my current organisation.

Inquisitive and research-oriented professional who has obtained breakthrough results by implementing intelligent planning to improve safety, quality, innovation and reducing costs across various projects.

Outside of work, I am passionate about cooking delicious recipes and love exploring new places.

Really excited to be a part of STEM sisters and contributing towards their goals by collaborating with the women of color.

Bansal

Hello, my name is Ananya Bansal. I am 21 years old and from India. I am an international student here and studying in my final year of Bachelors of ICT, majoring in system analysis at Swinburne university. In my last semester, I was highly involved in my university as a volunteer in different clubs. This helped me develop my leadership and communication skills.In this semester too I have undertaken various roles to help develop my skills further and help me connect to new people.
Outside university, I love to try out new things.I have recently started learning digital art. At STEM sisters, I hope to grow and give back to the community and support my peers towards their development.

 

Debolina Majumdar

Hello everyone
I am Debolina Majumdar, currently pursuing PhD from RMIT University. I am working in the field of Molecular Biology, Machine Learning, and Protein Biology. I am also the current President of RMIT Technology and Entrepreneurship Club and the event officer for COMBINE which is an Australian organisation for Bioinformatics students. I am a strong supporter of Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and involved in many Industry and student mentoring programs both as a mentee and a mentor. I hope to continue developing my skills with STEM Sisters and be a voice for women in the STEM community. When I am not working, I enjoy being outdoors and also enjoys singing and dancing.

I am Karthik, father of two beautiful girls Nina and Nila, and husband to Keerthi. On the professional side, I am a practicing Certified Financial planner CFP®.
A lot of us have no clue what a financial planner does. Let me try and help. I see myself someone who helps individuals and families make the right financial choices and do this by educating my audience. More importantly, I help people avoid the wrong financial decision. My expertise is in managing cash flow, budgeting, debt management, building wealth through investing (properties and shares), minimising income tax, and helping people protect their wealth.
I do this by developing practical and straightforward solutions that give total control over people’s financial life. The strategic advice I give helps people achieve their financial goals and live their desired lifestyle without worrying about money..

Tania Roy

Hey, there!

I’m Tania, a young business graduate from Monash University.

I am keen to understand the intersectionality between sustainability, businesses and social impact; I am passionate about how businesses can create a better impact. With my knowledge in risk management, I am eager to work with organisations working towards bridging the gaps between businesses, humans and the environment. I consider myself an evolving individual who looks for learnings and experiences in every opportunity.

Every now and then I try my hands on canvas painting, I enjoy exploring new music, artists & bands and my watchlist always has a murder mystery waiting for me!

I love being involved with organisations that work towards making our society a better place to breathe in. Absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the kind of work STEM Sisters is doing!

Kanika Singh

I am Kanika, an international student and a mother of two little kids aged 3.5 and 7 yr. A cancer biology researcher in 3rd year of PhD at RMIT University. I am from India and have spent most of my time in the National Capital Region of New-Delhi. My qualifications include a Bachelor in Biotechnology and a Masters in Bioinformatics. Science interests and intrigues me a lot.

Alka Rani

 

Hello I am Alka and I am pursuing PhD in Applied Biology and Biotechnology from RMIT university. In my PhD project, I am developing a portable detection test to check the bacterial contamination in food and water samples. I have completed my Master of Microbial Biotechnology and Bachelor of Biotechnology (Honours) from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. I have passion for teaching and research in science. I have been working as a casual tutor and marker for science practicals at RMIT for 3 years. I am also involved in a few programs where I get a chance to meet industry and academia experts as my mentors. In addition to that I have also got experience of working as a STEM mentor for high school students in Australia. 

Here at STEM SISTERS, I am working as a research assistant where I help with grant writing and volunteer tasks. Through this journey I get a chance to extend my writing and communicating skills. Apart from my research and teaching profession, I have a wide range of interest in working for human mankind and giving back to the community specially for women. I love to keep myself engaged with work and social activities where I can use multitasking skills to manage everything going smooth. 

My hobbies are cooking (trying for new dishes), artwork (DIY), listening to music and watching motivational videos and acting. I have done theatre for 4 years back in India during my college times. In my free time I also like to dance  Bollywood or Punjabi music. 

 

I hope to learn and walk together with my STEM SISTERS on a long path ahead.

 

Radhika Jain

Hi,
My name is Radhika Jain and I’m a Master of data science student at Monash University. Presently, I work as a cloud architect with Jupita as well as programming bootcamp facilitator at Monash. Additionally, I’m undertaking minor thesis(based on electric vehicles) under the supervision of Dr Hao Wang who is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University. My interest lies in machine learning, deep learning and AI.

I look forward to contributing within STEM sisters as a Research assistant.

Shohail Ibne
Mahbub

I’m Shohail, a freelance branding consultant currently based in Melbourne. I completed my Master of Business with a specialisation in marketing from Monash University in 2020. I provide branding consultancy services to STEM Sisters, which include the designing the brand identity and making sure marketing assets adhere to the brand guidelines.

I am a practicing minimalist, and prefer small living. This is demonstrated widely in my work, as it is fundamental to my design ethos. Originally from Bangladesh, my role model is my mother, who had a glorious career spanning 35 years as a Professor of Gynaecology at one of the leading medical schools of Bangladesh.
At Monash, I held the role of an academic peer mentor, and I wish to pursue academia and teach the next generation of business and marketing students to think outside of the box.

My hobbies include playing the guitar, hanging out with friends, documenting my everyday life and the occasional video content posts on my socials.

Sanam Chhusyabaga

I belong to a small city of Nepal, Bhaktapur and am interested to pursue a career in the STEM sector. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University and Master of Engineering (Civil) from Central Queensland University. Now I am also a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society because of her academic excellence.
Volunteering and giving back to society is my passion. Since childhood, I started my journey from scouting and other different social clubs and continued this journey here in Australia as a student mentor in CQUniversity and as a volunteer member for Engineers without Border CQU Chapter. Later, I joined STEM Sisters, founded by Ruwangi Fernando, which supports female international students in science, engineering, technology and mathematics fields. I find such social organization can empower women to sustain in this male-dominated society.
Volunteering activities really interest me. Besides, I also enjoy travelling, reading books and cooking.

Yemisi Olonoh


Hi, I am  Yemisi Olonoh an experienced management strategy consultant and project manager. Some of my skill sets include strategy, business process analysis, sales, new business development, stakeholder management, key accounts management. 

Within my STEM area of concentration, I am most passionate about helping businesses build strong links between people, processes, and technology. 

In my spare time, I enjoy playing lawn tennis, volunteering with organizations that support women and disadvantaged communities or fight oppression in some way, trying new things, going on bike rides to see new sights, striking up spontaneous conversations with strangers, and seeking my zen through yoga/meditation.

I love to sing, play keyboard and make photographs. I have interest in social media and graphic designing. I am looking forward to contributing to Stem Sisters.

Neelam Yadam

 

My Name is Neelam Yadav. I’m from India, I came to Australia as an International student. In addition to this, I am a recent college graduate (Master of Public Health) from Victoria University. I had completed my Bachelor in Statistics and Mathematics. I specialized in Statistical software such as “R”,” STATA” and SPSS for data analysis purposes. During my course work, I had participated in volunteer work with Cancer Council, Victoria. I had work as a Project Research Assistant. Apart from this, I worked as General Secretary with VUPA (Victoria University of Postgraduate Association).  Recently, I started a job as “Data Cleansing Project Officer” with Ballarat Community Health. This project focuses on the people and the communities we support achieve the best possible health and wellbeing.
