On August 23, 2024, we proudly hosted the event “Embracing Feminine Power: Beautiful, Graceful, Nurturing, Creative, and Warm,” dedicated to celebrating and supporting women of color in STEM. This gathering provided a vibrant space for participants to share experiences, gain insights, and cultivate a strong community.
The event commenced at 5:15 PM at the Australian Computer Society (ACS) in Melbourne, bringing together an inspiring group of women. Our esteemed panel discussion featured influential speakers who exemplified feminine power in both their professional and personal lives. They shared their unique journeys, challenges, and triumphs, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.
Our distinguished panelists included:
- Onisha Patel, who is passionate about transforming scientific discoveries into practical applications, highlighted her her experiences in bridging the gap between science and real-world impact.
- Manjusha Bhakta, known for her expertise in data management and governance, shared her insights on leading multi-location teams and supporting women in technology.
- Celia Torres-Villanueva, with over 15 years of experience in strategic commercial and contract management, discussed her experience in creating positive impact and value through her diverse skill set.
- Veena Nair, a dedicated educator, inspired attendees with her work in fostering innovation and collaboration in science and mathematics through her role as a STEAM project leader.
Participants had the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of professionals, academics, and enthusiasts in STEM, fostering meaningful connections and exchanging ideas. We celebrated the resilience, creativity, and strength of women of color in STEM, aiming to build a supportive community where everyone feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
