STEM Women need support more than ever before to face new challenges due to COVID. The report “COVID-19 and gender equality: Countering the regressive effects” from McKinsey & Company highlights the following findings:
- Women’s jobs are 1.8 times more vulnerable to the COVID crisis than men (due to the sectors women work in / type of work they do)
- Women make up 39% of the global workforce, yet account for 54% of currently reported job losses
- Forecasts indicate 4.5% of women’s employment is at risk, compared to 3.8% of men
Our STEM Sisters LinkedIn Group is set to increase awareness of the STEM-related opportunities in Australia among our STEM women of colour community.
