On September 24th 2020, STEM Sisters founder Ruwangi was invited to participate in the panel discussion at the Future Founders Festival 23-24 September 2020, an online startup festival celebrating international students and alumni to inspire the next generation of international students founders. The organisers, StartSpace , in collaboration with Study Melbourne and State Library Victoria, invited migrant entrepreneurs from across Australia to inspire the current international students to get started with their entrepreneurial journey. During the discussion, Ruwangi introduced to STEM and empowered STEM women of colour the importance of diversity for innovation and welcomed everyone to build an inclusive work environment that promotes equal opportunity for women of colour.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic struck the global community, it has become harder to find employment. Therefore, STEM Sisters wants to encourage young women to take entrepreneurship and even create job opportunities for everyone in need.
This event discussed the personal experiences of many founders from start-up companies. They gained valuable perspective from their experiences and projected it on start-up initiatives to help other people.
